"The skid row in Osaka...Nishinari at 4:45"..
Every country has the slam...or kind of ghetto....of course, Japan has the
some of skid rows...especially the famous ones were in Kawasaki,
Kanagawa-pref (especially in the industrial and prostitution areas..)
some areas of Adachi-ku, Tokyo(Kitano's birthplace and hometown), and
Nishinari, Airin area in Osaka...which has lots of one-day blue-collar workers
and back-street markets which were prohibited and sometimes cracked down
by the police and officials....by the retails of stolen properties and illegal
and non-cursed pornographic videos....
At the 4:45 am with the murky atmosphere...
....there were many workers who just chilled or wandered
in the street because of some reason....as homeless or without any
residence but the long-time sojourners in the flophouse or low-cost
motels without any amenities but just featured the beds.....
Of course, those areas are not safe....as the tinker-box....Sometimes
the workers raided against the police department and government...
especially in Showa era....it is so famous that there is the only area
which had the huge demos with demoralization....currently, there
were no demos or some pandemonium in the area....however,
it is still unstable and has the expectations to be chaotic...
thus, the angers and frustrations of workers against governments
and principalities were always brooded...
It was not recommended for you to walk down the streets of
Nishinari in the midnight or just alone...but, that's the other sides
of Japanese cultures which were not featured frequently on the
TV shows and promotions of governments and officials...
Especially, the soul foods with very reasonable and low prices
are vended in the stalls and booths in this area...moreover,
there are many Japanese sake taverns and bars with low
prices...that are so suitable to touch the other food and alcohol cultures in
Japan....
