Is he the savior or the successor of "Hayao Miyazaki"...??
Mamoru Hosoda...who is currently one of most popular creator for
animation in Japan...released his latest work...
"The Boy And The Beast" after the mega-hits of his third
total-produced one "The Wolf Children"...with the formidable
casts, to name a few...Aoi Miyazaki, Koji Yakusho, Shota Sometani
Suzu Hirose and...my favorite Yo Oizumi who is so famous for his
funny TV programs Suiyou Doudeshou sequences
(How do you do on Wednesday?)
After the announcement of retirement of Hayao Miyazaki...who was
the top filmmaker and hugely lucrative blockbuster
in Japan...as the creator of animation from Studio
Ghibli... Mr.Hosoda is in line for his successor as "post-Miyazaki"
creator...because of his impeccable creation and production for
especially long-term animations...and his economic success.
Seemingly, his latest one looks like...or was similar to the
essences of Hayao...that tended to describe the natural,
wild and animal world...with humans who was involved in...
Although Hayao criticized the materialism, industrialism and
partly imperialism (alluded the criticism for USA...
as the "Leviathan Empire")
with the description of the conflicts between human kinds and
natures....Mamoru didn't mentioned his personal opinions and
political views on his movie aggressively
...but did concentrate his ideals and best creation for his work...
as the movie which is impressive and delectable for whole
generations and people in Japan...as the professional.
However, his works are not always...or completely
welcomed by some critics and moviegoers....
because of his kernel of story with "family",
he was recognized as the representative of
conservative morals that rule the obsolete
tradition against modern society, despite
his approaches were not intended for protection
of them...in my book.
Moreover, the heroines in his movies are...also
criticized by some gender-free ideologists,
anti-paternalists, feminists and some critics
who seem to have liberal political views...and
be completely against the conservative ones..
Some of them said..."The girls who was the
girlfriends of main character is just..."a figure
who was just prized by her pretty face without
any talents..." and "a girl
who supplies love, sex and even girl-friendly
approaches without any volition..."
Of course, those critics partly agitated or aggravated
the portraits of girls in movies...because of their
hatreds and negative prepossesses for Hosoda...
but honestly....I think the girls in his movies were not
attracting and enchanting to me...because they....
did not have some personality that attracts people
or some talents which excites us...not white-washed
completely but just "good"...for people....
Nevertheless, he always...fired away some critics and
antipathies but in the same time was given reputations and
popularity from audience...Actually, I am also involved in
his works...as I watched his and see some reviews regardless
of my attitude for his movies...in neutrality.
